Taco Bell to introduce new Line of Biscuits Tacos from Thursday

Taco Bell is introducing a new line of Biscuit Tacos, taco-shaped biscuits with fillings including chicken and gravy. From Thursday, this new breakfast dish will be offered in more than 6,000 US restaurants.

The move is said to be part of an expanded morning menu. Primarily, McDonald's rules the breakfast sector. Therefore, fast-food chains are now making efforts to have their share as well and give stiff competition to McDonald's.

From last year, Taco Bell introduced breakfast menu having waffle tacos, egg burritos and the A.M. Crunchwrap. Customers have appreciated this move of the company and now, breakfast accounts for around 6% of Taco Bell’s sales.

Taco Bell's chief executive officer, Brian Niccol, was of the view that sad news is they are eliminating the wrap from their breakfast menu. It will become very difficult for kitchen staff to manage both the items in a timely manner.

Niccol said that the new items are being introduced to attract customers. “We have a lot of Taco Bell users who are already eating breakfast in the food-food industry. We still have a big opportunity on getting people aware that Taco Bell is open for breakfast”, said Niccol.

For McDonald's its breakfast menu accounts for around 25% of the company’s sales. Taco Bell has come up with advertising campaign in which it has taken on the Egg McMuffin, suggesting that sandwich is now boring.

Starbucks is also expanding its breakfast-sandwich offerings, as it makes efforts to increase its food sales by double to $4 billion by 2019. Not only Taco Bell is targeting to gain market shares in breakfast section, it is also making efforts to have more customers in others parts as well. To cite an example, it is emphasizing on food innovations like Doritos Locos Tacos, its shells are flavored like the Frito-Lay brand chip.
