Sri Lanka scores 262/3 on first day

Kumar SangakkaraSri Lankan team scored 262 runs for loss of 3 wickets on the first day of the second test match against New Zealand at Colombo on Wednesday. Sri Lankan team is leading the test match series 1-0 after winning the first test match at Galle.

Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lankan team lost the opener N Paranavitana (19) at the score of 34 runs. T Dilshan was also not able to resist on the crease as he lost his wicket at the individual score of 29 runs.

After that Sangakkara (50) and D Jayawardene (79) put together 40 runs for the third wicket before Sangakkara lost his wicket to Daniel Vettori. Sri Lankan team did not lose any more wicket in the day as they scored 262 runs at the close of play on the first day of test match.

Vettori took two wickets while I O'Brien chipped in with one wicket. Vettori has become the first ever left arm spinner to take 300 wickets in the test matches.
