Sri Lanka defeats West IndiesSri Lanka has defeated West Indies by 15 runs in a pool match of the ICC T20 World Cup yesterday at Nottingham.

West Indies' skipper Dinesh Ramdin won the toss and elected to field first.

Sri Lanka scored 192/5 in 20 overs with help of brilliant batting performance of both the opener TN Dilshan (74) and Sanath Jayasuriya (81). LMP Simmons took 4 wickets for West Indies against Sri Lanka.

Chasing target of 193, West Indies team managed to score only 177/5 in 20 overs. DJ Bravo was top scorer for West Indies with 51 runs.

Ajanta Mendis and Lasith Malinga took two wickets each for Sri Lanka. Sanath Jayasuriya was declared man of the match for his brilliant inning of 81 runs in just 47 balls.

ICC Match referee Chris Broad of England fined West Indies' skipper Dinesh Ramdin 20% of his match fees while other team members of the West Indies were fined 10% of their match fees due to slow over rate in the match against Sri Lanka.
