India's Sourav Ghosal has made into the semifinals of the Chennai Open squash championships after defeating sixth seeded Chris Simpson of England 11-7 11-7 12-14 11-7 in the quarterfinal on Friday.

The fourth seeded Ghosal won the first two sets but his English opponent came back strongly in the third set to keep his hopes alive in the match at the Indian Squash Academy court. However, Ghosal did not give any more chance to his opponent and sealed the match by winning fourth set.

Ghosal will now clash with second seeded Jonathan Kemp of England in the semifinal on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, Ghosal said that he and Kemp have played with each other during the training in England and it will be a tough match for him in the semifinal.

Meanwhile, in the women's category Nicol David has entered into the semifinal after defeating Samantha Teran of Mexico 11-9 11-4 12-10 in the quarterfinal. The world no. 1 Nicol will now play against Casey Brown in the semifinal.
