Sony targeted by hackers again

Sony targeted by hackers againJapanese electronics major, Sony confirmed reports on Tuesday that hackers have targeted its websites and were able to access about 2,000 customer names and e-mail addresses.

A hacker, calling himself Idahc and says he's a "Lebanese grey-hat hacker", has already posted about 1,000 of the records. Idahc exploited a common Web programming error, called an SQL injection flaw to steal data from the Canadian version of the Official Sony Ericsson eShop.

The hacker stole information including names and e-mail addresses and a hashed version of passwords of about 2000 Sony users, according to Ivette Lopez Sisniega, a Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications spokeswoman.

"Sony Ericsson has disabled this e-commerce website. We can confirm that this is a standalone website and it is not connected to Sony Ericsson servers," she wrote in email statement.

She confirmed that the hacker did not access any other information from the site. Sony Ericsson is jointly operated by Sony and Ericsson.
