Somdev qualifies for main draw of LA Open

Somdev qualifies for main draw of LA OpenIndian tennis star Somdev Devvarman has qualified for the main draw of the ATP LA Open after defeating American Alex Bogomolov Jr. in the third round of the qualification event while another Indian Prakash Amritraj failed to make into the main draw.

The second seeded Somdev overcame the last hurdle by defeating the sixth seeded Alex in straight sets by 7-5 6-2 in 1 hour and 38 minutes.

Somdev will now lock horns with the fifth seeded Russian Igor Kunitsyn in the fist round of the main draw of LA Open on Tuesday.

Somdev will get at least $ 5,680 after making into the main draw and this amount will increase to $9,590 if he would win his match against Igor in the first round.

Prakash failed to book berth in the main draw as he went down to the fifth seeded American Ryan Sweeting 5-6 6-7 (0) in the final round of qualification event on Monday.
 
American Carstell Ball and the top seeded Frenchman Josselin Ouanna are other players, who made into the main draw after winning their respective matches in the final round.
