Sikh Gurdwara Issue in Pakistan; PSGPC stated situation normal now
Minister of External affairs, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday stated that Indian government has directed Indian high commission in Pakistan to submit a detailed report on an alleged takeover of a Sikh Gurdwara in Lahore by miscreants.
The Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) today stated that the situation is under control and all ceremonies were performed at the Gurdwara sahib peacefully.
Mr. Mukherjee assured SAD member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa that the government will take up the matter with Pakistani authorities once the report is presented by Indian high commission.
According to recent reports, some hooligans took over the control of Bhai Taru Ji Gurdwara in Lahore. They also replaced the Gurdwara's religious symbols with Islamic slogans. One Pakistani daily had published the message of one of hooligans saying that they would not vacate the Sikh shrine and entry of Sikhs will be prohibited.
A Sikh leader from Pakistan, Mampal Singh issued a statement recently regarding the whole issue. He said, "Hooligans have taken over the Gurdwara, claiming it as their own, and have stopped us from entering the premises for the past two months."
