Shinzo Abe aims at Increasing Trade between India and Japan
New Delhi: Nuclear energy cooperation is expected to overlook discussion between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe, who is in India for a three-day trip
Japan is a prime member of the Nuclear Supplier Group, and India will be calling for Tokyo's accompaniment for the Indo-US nuclear agreement in the NSG.
Japanese PM will also be in discussions to further economic and tactical affiliations between the two countries. He will also lecture to a combined session of Parliament.
Mr. Manmohan Singh said, “In today's changed international system, the political, economic and strategic interests of India and Japan have never been so convergent. The core element of our global and strategic partnership is a comprehensive economic and engagement between the two countries.”
“To accelerate this process, we decided to establish a Special Economic Partnership initiative. This initiative will focus on key projects in areas ranging from the transport sector to industrial infrastructure, technology and education,” Mr. Singh added.
Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister, Japan stated, “The relationship between our two countries today is much stronger and deeper and broader. In fact, no comparison to what it was 50 years ago.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur hosted a private dinner for Abe and his wife, contemplating the significance accorded to the visit.
