Shinde inaugurates NTPC anchored event
New Delhi, Feb 13 : Union Minister of Power Sushilkumar Shinde here today inaugurated a two-day NTPC anchored event ''Imagineering for Brave New World Indian Power Stations''.
Delivering his inaugural address he lauded the Navratna company''s efforts towards achieving targets while always keeping in mind the social responsibility.
He also expressed confidence that NTPC would accept the challenges posed by the competitive environment in the power sector and continue its journey.
Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh emphasised the need to overcome challenges in different areas.
He categorised them as the environmental challenge in terms of growing demand for reduction in carbon emission, the competitive challenge due to tariff based competitive bidding and human resource challenge of attracting the best talent and retaining it.
The conference has been organised to showcase the best and modern/new technologies and practices being adopted in operation and maintenance of power plants world wide.
The issues to be deliberated during the two day conference are 123 and the changing generation scene, fuel security strategies, operational cost challenges, regulation and customer enlightenment and inclusive growth as the centre.
NTPC is the largest power generation company with an installed capacity of 29894 MW through 26 power stations including JVs.
Over the years NTPC has developed world class technology and skills in design, engineering, construction, project management, operations and maintenance and renovation and modernization of power projects.
The company is now emerging as an integrated power major with presence in Hydro power, coal mining, power distribution, power trading, E&P and in future plans presence in manufacturing power plant equipments, renewable energy and nuclear power. (ANI)
