Sensex Surges 166.58 Pts; Nifty At 5,879.45
Indian bourses got well today and covered their earlier losses.
The 30-share index Sensex continued its positive run following optimistic Asian peers.
Major buying activity was witnessed across real estate, metal, automobile and teck scrips.
At 11.01 a. m., the Sensex stood at 19,584.07, up 166.58 points (0.86%) with 27 components advancing.
In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty gained 50.75 points (0.87%) to trade at 5,879.45 with 46 components progressing.
Today, the 30-share index belled the day on a flat note after surging 19.22 points (0.10%) at 19,436.71, whilst Nifty begun with an increase of 32.40 points at 5,861.10.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indexes surged 1.17% and 1.20% respectively.
The top movers in the Sensex comprised ACC, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, JP Associates, Hindalco Ind, and Mah & Mah (1.72%).
In contrast, the top losers were HDFC, BHEL and SBI.
Among sectoral indices, the realty index gained 52.71 points; the metal index surged 203.16 points; the auto index zoomed 111.67 points and the Oil & Gas index grew by 118.36 points.
