Sensex Gains 61 Pts In Morning Trade
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was ruling 61 points up, about an hour into trade.
The Sensex, which opened the day at 16,574.79, stood at 16,633.47, up 61.44 points as against its last closure at 16,572.03.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty was trading 0.34% up at 4,988.15 from its last close.
Broader markets indices were also trading in the positive terrain, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.8% higher and the BSE smallcap index 0.94% up.
Breaking down the positive run of the last four sessions, the Sensex on Tuesday lost a whopping 372.60 points to end the day at 16,572.03 on the back of weak global cues.
The Nifty marked its closure below 5k mark at 4,970.20 after posting a hefty loss of 116.10 points.
The key heavyweight scrips has a severe setback during the noon session as slump in Chinese manufacturing growth pulled world stocks sharply lower.
On the other hand, US index futures also remained down.
But, a sharp intraday reduction in the Sensex of more than 600 points was owing to some freak trades in RIL counter on BSE.
