The Sensex continued trading on a flat note this noon with optimistic bias.

The stocks from teck, consumer durable and capital goods witnessed buying interest, while realty and metal remained weak.

At 15.01., the 30-share index stood at 18,118.05, up 4.90 points. In the meantime, the broad-based Nifty remained up by 3.45 points at 5,445.40.

Today, the Sensex belled the day after gaining 19.14 points at 18,132.29, while Nifty started with a loss of 42.80 points at 5,399.15.

The major gainers in the 30-share index comprised Bharti Airtel (4.19%), BHEL (1.42%), ITC (1.24%), Rel Energy (0.67%), Infosys (0.66%) and Hero Honda Motors (0.64%).

On the other hand, the top losers were JP Asso (1.83%), DLF (1.76%), JSPL (1.19%), HDFC Bank (1.11%), ONGC (1.11%), and NTPC (1.03%).

The BSE Mid and small caps declined 0.14% and 0.38% respectively.

The overall market breadth remained pessimistic as it saw 1,214 advancements as against 1,738 declinations.
