Senolytics could Slow Aging Process

According to reports, scientists have identified a new class of drugs that may keep a person young for a longer time. The reports stated that the new drugs dramatically increase healthy lifespan.

The new drugs, Senolytics, could help an individual to achieve vitality even when the person is already old. The class of drugs has been recognized by Scripps Research Institute, nonprofit American medical research facility located in San Diego, California. The research institute has shared the details about the drugs in an official post online.

Details of the drugs have also been published in Scripps website on March 9. According to the article, the new class of drugs could be considered as a big leap not just in developing treatments, but also in providing the aging population with drugs. According to reports, combination of these drugs could be used to treat and prevent several types of diseases. The drugs could also have the ability to reverse disorders, the reports stated.

According to the article, the drugs target the senescent cells of the body. Normally, the cells die to give way to new cells. When a person grows older, the body accumulates more to senescent cells. Researchers of the institute conducted a research on animal models like mice. They killed the senescent cells of the animals' bodies. They found that it was possible to arrest of delay signs of aging by killing these kinds of cells.

When the researchers decided to translate the same effect on humans, they found that human cells are also prone to resist apoptosis. To translate the effect, they had to remove the resistance first and in that case the new class of drugs could provide help. According to the researchers, the new drugs could be helpful to translate the effect on humans.
