Sejwal sets new national record

Sandeep SejwalIndian swimmer Sandeep Sejwal has set new National record at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome on Thursday. He clocked 2 min and 13.22 sec in the 200m breaststroke event to finish at the 32nd spot.

The Delhi swimmer participated in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events and he surpassed his previous best in all events. He has made his way in to the FINA Top
100 World Rankings in the 50m and 100m breaststroke categories after this impressive performance.

India's Rehan Poncha also set a National record in the 200m backstroke event with clocking 2min 6.92s. He got past his previous best of 2:08.15 sec. On Wednesday, Poncha had also made new National record in the 200m individual medley with 2:06.29 sec.

Another Indian swimmer, J Agnishwar, finished at the 59th spot out of 79 swimmers in the 200m breaststroke with his personal best timing of 2 min and 24.49 sec.
