Secret film club celebrates 10 years

Gelsenkirchen, Germany  - For 10 years, a secret German film club has been showing offbeat movies every month in Gelsenkirchen - cowboy films with dinosaurs, action films set in women's prisons in eastern Germany and erotic, torture chamber movies.

The secret film club, Buio Omega, which celebrated its 10th birthday on February 21, is dedicated to the thin line between trashy movies and art cinema. It is deemed a secret tip among fans of "exploitation" cinema or unintentionally funny films from the 1960s and 1970s.

Italian-born actor Franco Nero once visited the movie club in Germany's Ruhr Valley region. Members of the club attend film sessions that last as long as five hours. (dpa)
