SEBI warns corporates on timely reports and AGMsThe Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has aid that the corporates in the country should conduct annual general meetings (AGMs) and release annual reports regularly and in a timely manner.

SEBI chairman UK Sinha said that he would ask his team to investigate the details of those companies, which are not conducting AGMs and sending report to shareholders. The market regulator said that the team would begin investigations into the listed firms if they do not comply with the regulations.

“If they are not sending annual reports and not conducting AGMs, these are clear cut violations. Since this question has been raised, I will ask my team to investigate all cases where AGMs have not been called and Annual Reports have not been sent,” he said.

SEBI allows the listed firms to send annual reports through electronic mediums if it is agreed by the shareholders of the firm, according to Mr. Sinha. He was speaking at a seminar, on “Securities Market and the Common man” organised by National Stock Exchange in Chennai. He said that he there are any violations of rules the regulator would take serious actions.
