Scunthorpe General Hospital suspends five health workersScunthorpe General Hospital has suspended five health workers for allegations for restraining a baby.

The hospital in North Lincolnshire suspended four nurses and one healthcare-support worker, who worked at the children's ward. The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have initiated its own inquiry on the matter.

The police have been informed about to investigate but have not commented on the matter publicly. The event, in which a bay was restrained, was not known till last night. Level of force and the medical necessity will most likely to be recorded under investigations.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police has said that here had been "an incident at Scunthorpe General Hospital". She also said that the investigations and the police department are working with the NHS to determine the occurrences.

Scunthorpe General Hospital's Disney Ward takes care of children from the age of a few days upto 16. Wendy Booth, of the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS trust that runs the hospital, said that an incident occurred at the hospital and the trust is investigating the matter.

"We are keeping the family fully informed. It would not therefore be appropriate to comment further at this stage," she said.
