Scottish MP Sarwar says he warned Benazir of danger
Edinburgh, Dec.29: Scottish Muslim MP Mohammad Sarwar has said that he had warned Benazir Bhutto as far back as October this year not to return to Pakistan , as there was a threat to her life.
"She would not listen. I, along with many other voices, repeatedly told her she'd become a target for extremists but she was very brave and dedicated to her cause. I told her, 'Look, you should consider the huge danger you are facing' - but she told me she was the 'Daughter of Pakistan'and she would not be targeted by another Pakistani. Benazir Bhutto was a close friend and a very remarkable woman, who was a passionate defender of democracy," The Daily Recorder quoted a shocked Sarwar, as saying.
Glasgow Central MP Sarwar, 55, who was born in Pakistan, befriended Bhutto 25 years ago.
She visited him in Scotland and they had been due to meet in Karachi on January 5.
"I 'm in shock. I'm very worried about what may unfold in the next few days," he said. (ANI)
