Scientists unveil glue that makes concrete stronger

concrete strongerLondon, April 15 : Researchers at the University of Florida say that they have developed a new kind of glue, which can boost the concrete mix’s ability to bind the components tightly.

Bjorn Birgisson and Charles Beatty have revealed that the glue developed by them is a form of polyvinyl acetate.

They say that new glue works by slowing the propagation of any cracks, and making the concrete far more ductile.

It significant as it promises more time to take action when a concrete structure starts to crack, say the researchers.

According to New Scientist, the researchers further say that the additive also reduces the amount of shrinkage that concrete undergoes when it dries. (ANI)
