Scientifically Proven Superfood Blend Can Prevent Prostate Cancer, say Researchers

A team of researchers of an ongoing study claimed that a rare superfood blend can prevent prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men around the world. As per the study researchers, prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Jamaica. For the past 17 years, prostate cancer has been ranked as the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Jamaican men aging 40 years and older.

A team of British researchers has scientifically proven that a blend of broccoli, turmeric, green tea and pomegranate can help in fight against the most common cancer, prostate cancer, in men in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The team believes that the findings released by them on the superfood blend can do wonders in preventing prostate cancer. The team has even scientifically proven that a combination of broccoli, turmeric, green tea and pomegranate (known as Pomi-T) can do wonders in fight against prostate cancer.

Professor Robert Thomas, who works as an oncologist at Bedford Hospital and Addenbrooke's, part of Cambridge University Hospitals along with his team, carried out a six-month long human study.

The study included 203 adult males, all of the participants were battling with prostate cancer, he said. They divided the participants into two different groups. One group was given the essence of pomegranate, turmeric, green tea and broccoli, whereas the other group was the placebo group.

All the participants were told to take a capsule every day, with either the target ingredients (called 'Pomi-T') or placebo. After six months, the researchers found that prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels were 63% lower among those taking capsules containing essence of pomegranate, turmeric, green tea and broccoli.

They also noted that the Pomi-T capsules significantly control PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels; there were also virtually no adverse effects.

Thomas said, "Healthy eating and lifestyle is the main way of helping to combat the development of cancer. But men can now also turn to a whole-food supplement which has been shown to work".
