Schedule for high-level Taiwan-China talks in Taipei
Taipei - Taiwan and China are to hold a second round of high- level talks in Taipei for five days from Monday November 3. Following is a schedule of main events:
Monday - China's top negotiator with Taiwan, Chen Yunlin, leads a 74-member delegation to Taiwan on a weekend charter flight. Check in at Grand Hotel, and his deputies will hold preparatory talks with their Taiwanese counterparts in the afternoon.
Tuesday - Chen holds talks with his Taiwanese counterpart Chiang Pin-kung in the morning. The two sign four agreements on expansion of charter flights, operation of cargo charters, direct shipping, direct postal exchanges and food safety cooperation in the afternoon. Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council Chairwoman Lai Shin-yuan meets with Chen late in the afternoon. Nationalist Party honorary chairman Lien Chan hosts dinner party for Chen.
Wednesday - Seminar on cross-strait business and transportation cooperation and symposium on cross-strait financial cooperation in the morning. People First Party Chairman James Soong hosts luncheon for Chen at noon. Chen visits Hsinchu Sicence-based Industrial Park in the afternoon. Nationalist Party Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung hosts dinner party for Chen in the evening.
Thursday - News conference on exchanging rare animals, including two pandas from China and rare species of goat and deer from Taiwan in the morning. Taiwanese businessmen host luncheon for Chen at noon, and Chen holds dinner party to thank his Taiwanese hosts. Chen, highest- ranking Chinese official to visit Taiwan since 1949, is widely expected to meet with Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou Thursday afternoon.
Friday - Chen and delegation return to Beijing. (dpa)
