Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has advanced to the second round of women's single event of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London on Monday.

The world 78th ranked, Sania has defeated 52nd ranked, Anna-Lena Groenefeld by 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in the first round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Sania was brilliant right from the start of match as she won the first set by 6-2 in just 30 minutes. But in the second set German came back strongly and she won the second set by 6-2 which lasted for 44 minutes.

Sania was on her best in the third set as she won the final set by 6-2 in just 36 minutes and advanced to the next round of the Wimbledon.

Sania will now play against 28th ranked Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the second round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Cirstea has advanced to second round after defeating Romanian Edina Gallovits by 7-5, 6-1 in the first round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
