S.African warship on a goodwill visit to India
Kochi (Kerala), Nov. 13: The South African naval warship -- SAS (South African Ship) SPIOENKOP, a Valour Class frigate, will visit the port city of Kochi from November
14 to 18.
The SAS SPIOENKOP is on a deployment to promote intercontinental cooperation by visiting countries to maintain good relationships or to establish new ties of friendship and collaboration.
The SAS SPIOENKOP will conduct some naval exercises with elements of the Indian Navy when it sets sail on Tuesday morning.
The Indian and South African navies have a very good relationship and hold exercises regularly, especially when the Indian Navy honours South Africa with a visit to South Africa.
The Indian, Brazilian and South African Navies held the first India, Brazil, South Africa Maritime (IBSAMAR) exercises around Cape Town in South Africa in May this year.
These exercises supports the governments of the three countries economic and cultural cooperation as part of the south-south initiatives on the three different continents known as IBSA.
The ship''s will be visiting Kochi Port after its visit at Singapore, China, Malaysia, Vietnam.
From Kochi the SAS SPIOENKOP will visit Mauritius on its way back to Simon''s Town.(ANI)
