Rs 100 for every patient admitted in Assam medical college
Here’s a big bonanza for all those who are admitted in the government hospitals in Assam.
In a major move, the Assam government has decided to pay a daily relief of Rs 100 to every patient admitted to medical college hospitals and Rs 75 to those admitted to district hospitals.
Giving details regarding this scheme, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the scheme being named as ‘Maram’ is designed to relieve the financial load on patients admitted to the general wards of these government hospitals.
Speaking with the media persons in the state capital, Sarma said: “Maram is a first-of-its-kind scheme in the country for the ailing. This relief is over and above the free medicine and food provided in government hospitals.”
The scheme would start from September 15 next month.
The minister claimed that this was the first such scheme launched by any state government in the country.
He also informed that ‘Maram’ will cost around Rs 10 lakh a day.
Notably, the Congress-led Gogoi government in the state has raised the total allocation for the health sector to Rs 1,604.95 crore in the 2009-10 budget against the allocation of Rs 1,385.46 crore in the 2008-09 budget.
