Rita Joshi seeks CBI help

Rita Joshi seeks CBI helpUP Congress Committee (UPCC) Chief, Rita Bahuguna Joshi has registered a writ appeal in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court demanding CBI investigation into the arson case.

The writ appeal was filed on Aug 22, and will come up for hearing today.

The arson incident occurred on July 15, 2009, when some BSP workers set Joshi’s house on fire.

However, the case was registered by the local police but soon after the state government had ordered a CB-CID inquiry into the incident.

This all happened because of some impolite comments by Rita Joshi against UP Chief Minister Mayawati.

The party had also conducted a state-wide rally to protest against the issue. Rita Joshi also said that she has no hope of fair investigation in the matter by any state intelligence agency.

Thus, the case should be handed over to CBI for thorough investigation. The case is likely to be heard by a bench of Justice Abdul Mateen and Justice Ashwani Kumar Singh.
