Ribery says no close feeling to Bayern coach van Gaal
Paris - Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery has admitted in interviews published Tuesday he does not feel close to the club's Dutch coach Louis van Gaal.
The French international described the relationship as quite cold with "not much feeling at all."
Ribery, who starred after coming off the bench in the second half in Bayern's 3-0 over Wolfsburg on Saturday, has been linked throughout the summer with some of Europe's leading clubs.
Ribery was quoted by L'Equipe as saying: "It's important to feel confidence in your coach, and this is complicated. It's also important to have a bit more of a joke and some fun.
"It's the first time I haven't had a positive feeling with a coach. The feeling is not there."
Ribery also told France Football: "Our relationship is professional. It was totally different with Ottmar Hitzfeld, for example.
"He was a real joy to work with and the best coach I've known at Bayern."
Real Madrid have led the overtures for Ribery, with Chelsea and Manchester United also said to be interested in signing the midfielder. Bayern have repeatedly insisted he is not for sale.
Ribery appears to have recovered fully from injury, and helped set up both of Arjen Robben's goals on the Dutch winger's debut Saturday as Bayern sealed their first league win of the season.
Van Gaal is planning to play Ribery in a more central playmaking role, although the Frenchman had been initially reluctant to move in from his favoured left-sided position.
Robben said one of the reasons he joined Bayern from Real Madrid was that Bayern had said Ribery would stay.
Meanwhile former Germany keeper Oliver Kahn has advised his Michael Rensing, his successor at Bayern, to look for a new club after again losing his place in the side to the veteran Joerg Butt.
"I have experienced a lot in football but one thing is clear to me: that's it for him at Bayern," he was quoted as saying by Munich's Abendzeitung daily.
Kahn was also quoted by Bild newspaper as saying Rensing, 25, should "consider whether it still makes any sense for him here or whether it would be better to look for another club." (dpa)
