Resignations at financially troubled Rapid Bucharest
Bucharest - Rapid Bucharest's general manager Constantin Zotta and three other officials at the top Romanian club have resigned from their posts, the Romanian Agerpress news agency reported Tuesday.
The club's Jordanian owner Fathi Taher has suspended payments following a row with his predecessor George Copos, leaving the Rapid's officials without any finances.
A shareholders' meeting is set for Thursday to try resolve the issue. Taher bought 80 per cent of the club's shares last March but subsequently accused Copos of refusing to give up his control. (dpa)
