Researchers Find New Method for Early Detection of Alzheimer's
Researchers have come up with a new method for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. The new test can help doctors and researchers to detect changes in brain that mark the beginning of the development of the disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a serious health condition which causes degradation of person’s mental health. Almost 5 million Americans are affected by the disease. Scientists so far are still not clear what exactly causes the disease.
The developers of the new tests hope that their test would help doctors and researchers in treating the devastating disease. Their test works simply by examining the antibodies found in the bloodstream.
As per the team antibodies present in our bloodstream are body’s own response to changing conditions. The presence and composition of antibodies in the bloodstream can help them understand what the body is seeing at the cellular level.
As per experts, the Alzheimer’s disease starts developing in a person several years before its symptoms actually start surfacing. People gradually start losing control on their mental faculties.
If the test will prove successful in detecting the disease at an early stage, then doctors could suggest people to change their lifestyles to prevent or delay the onset of the disease. Early detection of the disease will also help doctors to start treatment well on time.
The test is being developed at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. As per estimate, one in nine Americans over the age of 65 will develop the disease, and early detection test could mark a major breakthrough.
