Islamabad, Apr. 2 : The Taliban has taken over the Gojaro Kalay emerald mine in Shangla in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

According to sources, more than 70 Taliban attacked the mine on Wednesday and took over the control of mining operations there.

Locals have confirmed the report, however, the district coordination officer and the district police officer denied any such activity in the region.

Lahore, Apr. 2 : Pakistan intelligence agencies have warned that 14 trained militants have entered Lahore and Islamabad to carry out attacks similar to the Manawan police training academy strike.

According to sources, these terrorists are hiding in the cities in the garb of preachers.

The investigative agencies have also asked the concerned authorities to beef up security in and around all government establishments, luxury hotels and other important public places.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar officials said that they have confirmed reports that seven suicide bombers were planning to carry out attacks on the lines of Manawan on government installations in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

Washington, Apr. 2: Democrat Senator Carl Levin has questioned Pakistan’s unwillingness to act against extremists based on its soil and secure its border along Afghanistan.

“I remain skeptical that Pakistan has either the will or the capability to secure their border,” The Dawn quoted Levin, as saying.

Lahore, Apr. 2 : It was certainly financial issues because of which Javed Miandad quit Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director General's post, as it has been now revealed that Miandad has rejoined the PCB on a hefty package of 750,000 rupees per month.

Sources in the PCB have also confirmed the report, and charged Miandad of being associated with the board only for money.

Islamabad  - A suspected US missile strike killed 12 Taliban militants Wednesday in Pakistan's restive tribal region, while suspected rebels ambushed a police patrol and killed five law enforcers in the neighbouring North Western frontier Province, officials said.

Two missiles believed to have been fired by a US drone hit a compound in Khadezai village of the Orakzai Agency, one of seven semi-autonomous tribal districts known to serve as sanctuaries for al-Qaeda and Taliban rebels.
