Islamabad - A homemade bomb killed 12 children and wounded three others in Pakistan's volatile north-western region, officials said on Sunday.
The explosive device resembling a football was picked up by the children Saturday as they were returning home from school in Luqman Banda village of Lower Dir district, a local police officer, Saeed Zaman, said.
"The bomb exploded as the children started playing with it in their house," according to Zaman.
Isamabad, Apr. 25: When Taliban fighters entered the Buner district of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) days ago, over 500 hundred security personnel stationed in the region offered absolutely no resistance.
It was not because the security personnel lacked ability or willingness to do so, but because of the fact they were ill-equipped and far less in number than the insurgents.
A senior police official stationed in Buner has admitted that the cops were no match for the mighty extremists.
Islamabad, Apr. 25: Pakistani Taliban stopped a convoy of security forces from entering their stronghold in Swat Valley on Saturday.
A News Network International (NNI) news agency report said seven army trucks were stopped by armed Taliban at Qamabr, a small town of Mingora, the main city in the Swat Valley of North West Frontier Province.
Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said the militants feared that the security forces might launch fresh offensive.
Islamabad, Apr. 25 : Amid the unprecedented terror threat from the Taliban, Pakistan Rangers have deployed 250 more security personnel across the capital city.
According to The Daily Times, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration had asked for more security personnel to safe guard the city from any untoward situation.
Sources said that 200 more Northern Areas' scouts are ready to be deployed in the city, and would reach here shortly.
