Nano EuropaTata Motors launched the Nano Europa, the European version of the Nano, on Tuesday at the Geneva Motor show before Nano's formal launch on March 23 in the domestic market.

Nano Europa supports 3-cylinder sporty aluminium MPFI engine and electric power steering, using all international safety standards and regulations. The car has been provided with advanced restraint systems, ABS, ESP, with high fuel efficiency and low CO2 emission.

Human RightsGeneva  - Participating in the opening of the tenth session of the Human Rights Council on Monday, the United Nation's top rights expert said she supported an upcoming anti-racism conference, despite anti-Semitic elements that plagued the previous one.

Navanethem Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, urged "governments and all other stakeholders to actively participate in this review process" and that attacks against it were "unwarranted."

Somalis stuck between rock and hard place Geneva  - The United Nations Refugee Agency said Friday that in recent weeks some 40,000 displaced Somalis have returned to the war ravaged capital Mogadishu as the areas elsewhere in the country where they sought refuge had become too violent and were being hit by drought.

"Somalis are between a rock and a hard place," said William Spindler, a spokesman for UNHCR.

The UN warned that it was "not encouraging returns to Mogadishu at this juncture, as the security situation is volatile and the conditions are certainly not conducive."

UN launches polio eradication initiative in West Africa Geneva  - United Nations agencies and other groups started a polio vaccine campaign Friday which aims to immunize 53 million children in West Africa over the course of the next month.

The vaccination campaign will take place in two rounds and will target eight countries, including Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.

The large campaign, which has received funding from numerous donors including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, was in response to a polio outbreak last year, which spread from northern Nigeria to six other nearby countries.

IATA: Aviation industry has yet to see the bottomGeneva  - January was the fifth consecutive month of contraction in international air passenger demand and was the eighth straight month of contraction for freight traffic, the International Air Transport Association said Thursday.

"Every region's carriers are reporting big drops in cargo," Giovanni Bisignani, the IATA chief, said in a statement.

Furthermore, "aside from the Middle East carriers, passenger demand is falling in all regions."
