EU plans to replace peacekeepers in Bosnia with training mission Prague  - The European Union plans to replace its peacekeepers in Bosnia-Herzegovina with a training mission, European Union's top diplomat Javier Solana said Thursday after an informal meeting of EU defence ministers.

"The decision to go into something different, a non-executive mission which means training... was taken," Solana said, adding that it remained open when the current mission would be replaced.

Bosnia becomes 42nd contributing nation to NATO's Afghan operations Brussels - Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday became the 42nd nation to join NATO's counter-insurgency operations in Afghanistan, alliance officials said.

NATO spokesman James Appathurai said a document "formally recognizing Bosnia-Herzegovina as a non-NATO ISAF contributing nation" was signed at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels by NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and Bosnia's defence minister, Selmo Cikotic.

Three Algerians at Guantanamo due for transfer to Bosnia

Washington  - Three Algerian men with Bosnian citizenship could be moved from the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to custody in their adopted country as early as Tuesday, the Washington Post reported Tuesday on its website, citing US officials.

Bush administration officials told the newspaper the men were already undergoing pre-release processing.

A US federal judge last month ordered the three Algerian-Bosnians to be speedily released in a case that the US Supreme Court had allowed to go forward.

Two other Algerians who lived in Bosnia but were not Bosnian citizens were not immediately being released, although they were involved in the same legal case. Washington and Sarajevo were in continuing talks about the possible transfers.

Bosnia's Serb region files charges against diplomat

Banjaluka  - Bosnia's Serb Republic (RS) on Wednesday filed criminal charges against a former US diplomat, local media reported.

RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik told journalists in Banjaluka that charges were had been filed against Raffi Gregorian, who is deputy International High Representative in Bosnia.

Gregorian is charged of plotting against the Serb Republic, the Serb entity within Bosnia. The Office of the High Representative (OHR) is an ad hoc international institution set up to oversee the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the Bosnian-Serb war.

"The charges are written and sent, " Dodik said.

Bosnia's Serb Republic and Strabag sign highway deal

BosniaBanjaluka - The Austrian building company Strabag and Bosnia's Srpska Republic (RS) signed a 2.9 billion euro (3.6 billion dollars) contract for the construction of highway network on Monday, local media reported.

The Austrian company has won a 30 year concession to build 397 kilometers of road in RS, the Serb entity within Bosnia.
