Ranchi/ Patna, Apr 22 : With just a day left for the second phase of general elections, the Naxals have attacked at several places in Bihar and Jharkhand to impose a shut-down in the two states.

The latest incident has happened in Jharkhand this morning, where the Naxals took 700-800 people hostage as they were travelling in a train from Barkana in Jharkhand to Mugalsarai in Uttar Pradesh.

Naxals later freed passengers on board hijacked train.

The train was hijacked at around 7 a. m.

Patna (Bihar), Apr. 22 : Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Yadav and NDA leader and Bihar''s Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi were engaged in a war of words on Wednesday, hours after Naxals struck in four places in Bihar and Jharkhand a day before the second phase of general elections.

"These attacks show that there is anarchy in all four quarters of Bihar. This (NDA) government (led by Nitish Kumar) is a failure," said Lalu Yadav.

Patna, Apr. 21: UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi''s rallies in Bihar were cancelled at the eleventh hour on Tuesday, without citing any reason for the same.

"The information we have received from the AICC headquarters is that Soniaji''s rallies stand cancelled. No reason has been assigned," said Samir Kumar Singh, Bihar Congress Working President.

Patna, Apr. 21: Senior Congress party leader Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday said that Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav would not be a part of the next government.

Addressing an election rally in Samastipur, Mukherjee said: "Lalu will neither form the government or will be a part of the next government. Lalu should have given us three seats in Bihar we had asked for. We will never tolerate being treated as a doormat."

Patna, Apr. 20: Ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, campaigning is in full swing in Bihar with all parties trying all means and modes to woo the voters.

Actor-turned-Congress candidate Shekhar Suman told his constituency people that his party had fifty years of development history, and that is why it should be voted to power.
