Beijing, Dec. 7: China has described as unwise French President Nicolas Sarkozy insistence on meeting Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, on Saturday, adding that it has undermined Sino-French ties.
A Xinhua report quoted sources as saying that in meeting "separatist The Dalai Lama" the French President and his government have shown a total disregard for Beijing''s grave concerns.
Beijing - Electronics company Siemens said Thursday its sales and new orders in China grew by 19 per cent each - twice the growth rate of the country's economy.
Richard Hausmann, head of the Germany-based conglomerate's China subsidiary, told journalists in Beijing that sales surged to 57 billion yuan (8.3 billion dollars) and new orders to 65.5 billion yuan in the business year through September 2008.
"In face of a global economic downturn I am glad that the results of our China operations again contribute significantly to our global performance," he said.
Beijing - Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi telephoned Hillary Clinton to offer his congratulations on her nomination as US secretary of state, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.
The spokesman said Yang expressed satisfaction at the state of relations between the two countries and looked forward to cooperation with Clinton so that ties could develop further.
The spokesman, Liu Jianchao, made no reference to differences between Clinton and outgoing President George W Bush over the US position on human rights in China.
