New York, June 7 : The New York-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged the caretaker government in Bangladesh to end its political witch-hunt immediately.
Criticising the recent wave of mass, arbitrary arrests under the Emergency Power Rules, Human Rights Watch said the thousands who were detained, should be either charged on the basis of credible evidence of criminal activities or immediately released.
It said that the timing and targets of the arrests are a dead giveaway that they are politically motivated.
