Redrow says that second quarter may be profitable

RedrowRedrow Plc, a British house builder, said today that it sees a profitable second quarter of the fiscal as it expects to complete over 2500 homes for the full year. The company was encouraged by the sales figures reported in the first three months of the year.

The company also said that the selling prices of houses were reported increased since the start of the year comparing to the same period last year. However, the company remained cautious for the full year 2010.

Redrow said that it expects to legally complete over 2500 homes for the full year. The company said that it would result in a return to profitability for the second half period.

Redrow said today in an interim management statement that the sales rates at its 72 outlets for the first three months of the year were reported up comparing to the previous corresponding period. Redrow said that average selling price for private homes has increased due to a planned change in product mix of the company. On the other hand, the weekly visitor levels and cancellation rates were reported reasonably consistent for the period.

However, Redrow also said that it expects the market to remain challenging throughout 2010 as there might be uncertainties surrounding the general election.
