Ranbaxy profit zooms 5-fold in 2010

RanbaxyLeading pharmaceutical firm Ranbaxy has announced its financial results for last year. The company has said that it has posted an impressive five-fold net profit rise in the year under review. As per the company officials, the net profit of the company has surged up to Rs 1,497 crore for the year that ended on 31st December, 2010. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 296.5 crore in the preceding year i. e. 2009.

The global sales of Ranbaxy were up by 23% during this period. It was recorded Rs 8,550 crore for the year. The main reason of such remarkable rise in the global sales is the higher sales of its products in emerging markets and in the major geographies. It has received 50% of its total sales from the emerging markets like India, CIS and Africa. All these markets have produced impressive gain for the company.

The pharma business sales in India have surged up to $384 million during this period of time. There has been a growth of 8% in this year as compared to the previous year.
