Rahul And Nizar In AIS Squad
Two Indian players Rahul Shukla and Nizar Niyas have been included in the team of Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) for the Emerging Players Tournament, which is going to start from 20th July in Queensland.
Both Rahul and Nizar, the right arm pacers, play for the MRF Pace Foundation, which is located in Chennai.
This selection of Indian players in the Australian domestic team has been result of tie-up between the Chennai-based MRF Pace Foundation and the AIS located in Australian capital Canberra.
The former India coach Greg Chappell will guide the 17-member squad of AIS who has been looking to win the title for the first time.
Karnataka, an Indian state team, had won the first edition of the Emerging Players Tournament in 2005 and South Africa won it twice in 2006 and 2007 while New Zealand won it last year.
Many international players had also played in the 2005 edition the Emerging Players Tournament including Adam Voges, Ben Hilfenhaus, Luke Ronchi, Shaun Marsh, Callum Ferguson (Australia), Jacob Oram, Shane Bond, Hamish Marshall, Mark Gillespie, Ross Taylor, Peter Fulton, Michael Papps (New Zealand), Neil McKenzie, Robin Peterson (South Africa) and Robin Uthappa (India).
