Product Safety Commission recalls BRP snowmobiles due to a laceration hazard

According to the official reports, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of BRP snowmobiles due to a laceration hazard.

Drive pulley bolts on the snowmobiles can break, causing debris to fly off the vehicle and "act as projectiles," the commission has said.

The commission said in a statement that the flying debris poses risk of injury to bystanders.

About 1,500 snowmobiles were imported from Canada and Finland by Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. of Quebec, Canada, and by BRP Finland Oy of Finland.

It was further reported that the snowmobiles involved in the recall includes Ski-Doo model year 2009-2010 SKANDIC SWT V-800 and model year 2010 GSX 1200, GTX 1200, MXZ 1200 and Renegade 1200 snowmobiles.

They were sold from July 2008 through February 2010 for $8,000 to $9,000.

The commission has advised consumers to stop using the recalled machines and contact a Ski-Doo dealer for a free repair. (With Inputs from Agencies)
