London, Nov 7 : British royal Prince Harry can breathe a sigh of relief for he will not be prosecuted over the alleged illegal shooting of two rare birds of prey on the his grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate.

Cops questioned the 23-year-old after a nature reserve warden and two members of the public claimed they saw protected hen harriers being shot on October 24.

Harry was thought to be involved as he was shooting pigeons and duck with two pals at Sandringham at the time.

Shooting a hen harrier carries a six-month jail term or a 5,000 pounds fine under the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service announced that no-one was being charged with the killing as there was ‘insufficient evidence’.

The case was also hampered by the fact that the carcasses of the birds were not found.

“There is insufficient evidence to prosecute,” the Sun quoted Norfolk CPS as stating.

Sir Martin Doughty, chair of Natural England, said: “We are disappointed the CPS was unable to bring a prosecution in this case.” (ANI)
