Ponting quits from T20 cricket
Australian captain Ricky Ponting has announced his retirement from the Twenty20 international cricket on Monday. He will continue to play in the ODI and test matches.
The 38-year old Ponting will continue to lead Australian squad in ODI and test matches while M Clarke will be skipper of the Australian team in T20 matches. Clarke impressed with his captaincy skills in the two ODI matches against England in the ongoing one-day series.
Ponting will also play in the domestic cricket and the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL). Ponting has chosen to rest for the ongoing one-day series against England.
Ponting said that this decision will help him to extend his carrier in Test and one-day matches and he would continue to play as long as possible in test cricket.
Ponting is confident to play till 2013 Ashes test series to take revenge of their defeat in the Ashes 2009. Australian team had lost two successive Ashes series on the England soil in 2005 and 2009.
