PIL: motormen swirl look for instructions for public transport units
In the stir of a flare walkout by motormen former this year, public interest litigation filed hunted formulation of guiding principle to be pursued by public transport undertakings prior to the marching on for a work stoppage. The Mumbai Grahak Panchayat recorded a PIL in the Bombay High Court and demanded a recompense of Rs 5 crore for railway travelers which is Rs 10 for all of approximately 50 lakhs commuters for the hassle originated due to the walkout. WR and CR motormen had smacked work on May 3 and 4 resulting in commotion and carrying the city to a fester for two days.
As per the appeal, the reimbursement must be set down with the Consumer Welfare Fund of the state government and must be utilized to improved railway services.
Petitioner’s lawyer advocate Uday Warunjikar squabbled that in addition to railway strike, there were work stoppage by taxis, auto rickshaws and BEST drivers in the current months.
Expressing them as vital services, he expressed that petitioners feels that the court should support guidelines in a way that such strikes does not happen again. Also, accountability must be permanent for the motormen’s strike.
