Phil Quaife to ride MP4-12C GT3 at Spa race
McLaren GT has said that Phil Quaife will ride its new MP4-12C GT3 cars at Total 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, this weekend.
Phil’s RS Racing is playing a leading role in the development of the 12C GT3. He will join Adam Christodoulou, as well as Glynn Geddie and Roger Wills behind the wheel of the 60 VonRyan Racing-run Pro-Am Cup model.
This will be the first time a McLaren has debuted at an international 24 hour race since F1 GTR won overall at Le Mans in 1995. The new 12C GT3 model begins its racing development at Spa-Francorchamps, after it took the leading position on its British GT Championship debut this month.
Phil said: “I'm delighted to have been selected by McLaren GT to play a part in developing the 12C GT3. McLaren GT is able to draw on its McLaren Racing experience in Formula 1 and blend that with CRS Racing’s GT car expertise. The 12C GT3 was reliable at the British GT outing earlier this month and I can’t wait to test it at Spa.
He added that he intended to enjoy every moment of the opportunity to drive such a car at the race.
