Pesticide killed Bob Woolmer, Indian-born Jamaican pathologist says
Sydney, Oct.25 : A Jamaican Government pathologist insists that former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer died of pesticide poisoning.
Ere Sheshiah, an Indian doctor, said a toxicology report in June revealed fatal levels of the pesticide cypermethrin in Woolmer’s system.
“My final opinion is it was asphyxia, associated with cypermethrin poisoning,” The Australian quoted Sheshiah, as saying.
Other doctors testifying at the inquest into Woolmer's death have disparaged Sheshiah's autopsy, saying the 58-year-old coach died of natural causes, most likely heart disease.
Woolmer was found unconscious in his downtown Kingston hotel room March 18, a day after Pakistan lost to Ireland in the Cricket World Cup.
Sheshiah's initial finding set off a media frenzy and a wide-ranging murder investigation. In June, authorities ended the probe after independent pathologists from South Africa, Canada and Britain submitted reports concluding the coach died from natural causes. (ANI)
