World should support Pak to eliminate terrorism: Musharraf

New York, Jan 16 : Former president Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan is a victim of terrorism so the world should support it in this hour of crises.

Expressing these views at a press conference in Michigan, Musharraf urged the international community to play a constructive role for the elimination of terrorism and extremism.

He urged the US to support Pakistan through economic aid expansion.

Replying to a question, the Daily Times quoted Musharraf as saying that Pakistan was trying its best to bring perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice.

Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto had also become a victim of terrorism, he said.

Musharraf, while addressing the annual dinner of World Affairs Council here said that Pakistan is itself a victim of terrorism, and it is taking all measures to counter the menace.

He claimed that Pakistan is itself is a victim of terrorism, and the Pak army is sincere in its effort to root out the terrorism.

"I am not one of those "who make a deal and run," the Daily Times quoted Musharraf, as saying on a private television channel.

Musharraf, who is on a visit to the United States, commenting on the recent rise in tension between India and Pakistan said that any offensive move by the Indian side will be dealt strongly by Pakistan.

"Pakistan is capable of giving a befitting reply to any Indian aggression" Musharraf said.

Musharraf’s collection of “expensive gifts” will remain a mystery forever!Islamabad, Dec. 27 : According to a latest report by the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), the government has no record of the `expensive gifts' received by former President General Parvez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during 2006-07.

The audit report for 2007-08 shows that the Cabinet Division has not been provided with appropriate information on the expensive gifts the officials received over the year.

Islamabad, Dec 22: Pakistan's Interior Adviser Rehman Malik has promised that the government will arrest former president Pervez Musharraf for killing Baloch chieftain Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Talal Bugti after meeting President Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that the government would frame a case against Musharraf for killing both Akbar Bugti and Benazir Bhutto.

The former president is also responsible for the killings during the Lal Masjid operation and the May 12 riots in Karachi, he added.

Talal, who is Akbar Bugti's son, said his party had lodged an FIR with the police against Musharraf for killing his father, but added that a case had not been registered so far.

Talal Bugti was of the view that certain religious organisations were after Musharraf and could one day target him for his disastrous actions against Islam.
