WTO Chief to meet Manmohan Singh today

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy and Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Aug 12 : WTO Director General Pascal Lamy will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today to find ways for picking up the threads from last month''s failed trade talks in Geneva.

During his two-day visit, Lamy will also hold talks with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, and also with representatives of the Indian industry.

New Delhi, Aug 4 : Manmohan Singh arrives home after attending SAARC SummitPrime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived here Sunday night after attending the 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit, which concluded in Colombo on the same day.

During his visit, Dr. Singh met his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani who assured him that Pakistan would investigate the bombing of the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

Dr. Singh also conveyed his concern about the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and the rising infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.

Manmohan Singh urges SAARC nations to stand united against terrorism

Colombo, Aug 2 : India Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan SinghPrime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today urged all eight SAARC nations to stand united against terrorism.

Terming the recent attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul and serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad as gruesome reminders of barbaric acts of terrorists, Dr. Singh told the opening session of the 15th SAARC Summit that terrorism is the ''single major threat'' to the stability of South Asia.

The region cannot afford to lose the battle against the ideologies of hatred and fanatism, he added.

The IAEA Board of Governors on Friday approved the India-specific Safeguards Agreement with the consensus of all 35 board members.
