Haqqani says no comparison between US bailout package and AFPAK aidWashington, Apr. 8 : There is no comparison between the additional aid being offered to Pakistan and Afghanistan by the Obama administration, and the bail-out package for tackling the economic meltdown in America, said Pakistan's envoy to the United States Hussain Haqqani.

"The US's economic packages for Pakistan keep no status in comparison with the bailout package sought for US itself to tackle ongoing global economic meltdown in America," The News quoted Haqqani, as saying.

Pakistan to raise Obama’s Contact Group issue during Holbrooke’s visit

Hussain HaqqaniWashington, Apr. 5 : Pakistan is concerned with the US President Barack Obama’s idea of forming new contact group including India on Afghanistan and Pakistan, and has said that it will raise the issue during the US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke’s forthcoming visit to the country.

“We will talk to our American interlocutors. Holbrooke will be in Pakistan soon. We intend to talk to him about the idea of a contact group,” The Daily Times quoted Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, as saying.

Pak doesn’t want war, but needs to remain ready for war-like situation: Haqqani

Washington, Dec. 27 : Pakistan's Ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani has said that Pakistan doesn't want a war but, constant Indian threats have made it necessary for it to remain ready for any war-like situation.

Haqqani was quoted by the News, as saying that even when Pakistan was working in accord with international expectations, Indian moves like issuing threatening statements against Pakistan couldn't be justified.

He also stated that both the countries should refrain from the blame game and unite against terrorism, which is a common menace for the both the nations.

Hussain Haqqani said that the democratic countries do not fight and he hoped that joint efforts would be made in the war against terrorism.

Pakistan won’t judge terrorists by their causes but by their actions: Haqqani

Washington, Dec. 6 : Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani has said that terrorists nabbed by Islamabad will not be judged by their causes, but by their actions.

“We are not going to judge terrorists by their causes. We are going to judge them by their actions. So, basically, anybody who engages in terrorism is a terrorist for us, irrespective of what cause they espouse,” Haqqani declared.

Haqqani claimed that Pakistan has begun to share actionable intelligence with India and the United States in so far as the Mumbai terror attacks were concerned.
