Melbourne, Apr 5 : `Australia' director Baz Luhrmann has said that the poor box office release of his film in the US was the reason why he and his crew did not get an Oscar nomination.

He also said that another reason for the epic film missing out on Oscar nomination was that its release clashed with Reese Witherspoon's `Four Holidays'.

London, Mar 26 : Filmmaker Baz Luhrman, who is known for his magnificent flicks, is so impressed with Hugh Jackman and Beyonce Knowles' Oscar act together that he has decided to make a musical featuring them.

Luhrman thinks that the `Dreamgirls' actress is going to make it big in Hollywood, and that working with her would be an honor.

Martin has yet again upstaged her husband after receiving an Oscar nomination for her costumes for the epic Australia, while Luhrmann has not been nominated in any category, reports News. com. au

Earlier, in 2002, Luhrmann dazzled Hollywood with the musical Moulin Rouge!.

While the film picked up eight Oscar nominations, Luhrmann received just a nomination for being one of three producers.

Melbourne, January 7 : Director Baz Luhrmann's epic romance film `Australia' has earned itself an Oscar nomination in the visual effects category.

According to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the film would compete against The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Iron Man, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, for the same award.

Melbourne, Dec 17 : Joining a chorus of critics who have panned Baz Luhrmann''s outback epic `Australia' is feminist Germaine Greer, who has branded the film a `disaster'.

Writing in Britain''s The Guardian newspaper, Greer described the film as a "fraudulent and misleading fantasy", designed to promote the Federal Government''s policy of reconciliation.

Greer has pointed out what she claims are several historical inaccuracies about how Aborigines were treated in 1939, when the film was set.
