Sugar is being sold at a whopping 80 rupees per kilogram in the provincial capital, sending the family budget into a tizzy.

“Owing to non-availability of sugar at the official rate (40 rupees per kg), we are facing great problem and have no choice but to purchase the commodity at exorbitant rate,” The Dawn quoted a local resident, as saying.

Some retailers said that they were avoiding selling sugar, as it was not available at the official rate.
