Pembrokeshire Coastal Path named third best walk
The 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path in West Wales has been named the third best walk in the world by a new travel guide.
The picturesque Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is the only walk in the UK in the list. The walk includes towering limestone cliffs, sandy beaches as well as traditional fishing villages. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is also the site of the only coastal National Park in the UK.
It has several coves and offshore islands, providing habitats to the wildlife. The area is visited by several seabirds, which make their nest on land, while whales, dolphins and porpoises are spotted often at sea. Several colonies of grey seals have also been spotted in the area.
Charles Mathieson, head of tourism for Pembrokeshire Coast National Park said, “We know the path attracts a million walkers each year, providing a fantastic resource for local residents and drawing people from all around the world.” He also said that it is a “fantastic honour” to be included in the list.
The path Pembrokeshire was named along with the Inca Trail in Peru and Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro as the top three best walks in the world.
